How do upgrades actually work?

When you buy from one of our curated wine collections, every bottle is guaranteed to be high quality—but here’s the exciting part: you’ll also have a chance to score surprise upgrades to even more premium bottles at no extra cost! Imagine ordering a Cabernet and discovering an upgrade to a reserve bottle worth twice as much. It’s like unwrapping a gift every time you order.

What happens if I don’t like a wine?

We stand behind every bottle with our 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not completely thrilled with a wine, let us know! We’ll make it right with a replacement or a full refund. Shopping with Underground Cellar is risk-free.

How much does shipping cost?

Simple and straightforward: ground shipping is free when you order 12 or more bottles.

If your order is less than 12 bottles, we charge a flat rate of just $10 for ground and $58 for UPS 2-Day Air.

During the summer months, we use methods such as ice packs and temperature-controlled trucking to protect your wine from heat damage. There may be a small additional fee to cover the costs of those heat-protecting items. Pricing is shown on the checkout page.

When will my wine ship?

Every wine sold is already in our Sonoma cellar and typically ships within 7-10 business days after the offer sells out.

During warmer months, we may adjust shipping schedules for some regions to better protect your wine in transit. For select shipments outside of California, we use refrigerated trucks to move orders to regional hubs before final delivery. This means your tracking may show little to no movement for a few days while your wine is traveling safely by refrigerated truck.

Once your order reaches the regional hub and the carrier scans the label, delivery is generally completed within 1-2 days.

What kind of wines can I expect?

We work directly with top wineries from Napa, Bordeaux, Tuscany, and beyond to bring you amazing wines at incredible value. From hidden gems to collector-worthy bottles, each collection is carefully curated by our team of experts.

Are there any hidden fees?

Nope! The price you see is the price you pay. There are no subscription fees, membership costs, or storage fees. Just exceptional wines and thrilling upgrades.

What is Double Up, how does it work, and can I use it more than once?

Double Up lets you expand your order right after checkout. When you use it, your bottles go back into the mix and we re-pick your order with double the quantity.

You won’t always get all new labels. Some bottles may repeat, and some will be new. Think of it as going deeper into the same cellar—more of what you liked, plus fresh discoveries.

You will see a separate charge on your credit card for each Double Up set of bottles.

Yes, you can Double Up more than once. Each time you use it, we re-pick your order again for another, bigger mix.

What counts as a "bottle"?

When we say "bottle", we mean one unit purchased at the offer price.

If your order includes upgrades like multi-packs, instant cellars, or bundled collections, those all count as one bottle purchased toward your case order shipping offer—no matter how many bottles are included with the upgrade.

So if you buy three bottles on an offer and receive an upgrade to a 6-bottle set, that still counts as three bottles toward case-shipping pricing.

How does local pickup work?

If you'd like the convenience of picking up your wine on your own schedule, you can choose a local pickup location through our partner Via.Delivery after placing your order.

How will I know when it's ready?
You'll get email and text updates from Via.Delivery until your wine is picked up.

What do I need to bring?
Please bring a government-issued photo ID. If you,re picking up for someone else, you'll also need the tracking number and the name on the package.

How long will my wine be held?
You'll have 7 days to pick up your order after it arrives. Any packages not collected within that time will be returned to our warehouse.
